22-yr-old Kidnaps Step-sister, Demands N10m Ransom

A 22-year-old suspect has been arrested in Funtua, Katsina State, for orchestrating the kidnapping of his six years old step sister in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, and demanding N10 million as ransom.

This is just as a house wife, Aisha Abubakar, 38, killed her four -year- old step-daughter, Aisha, to spite her mother at Sabuwar Unguwar Quarters, Rimi Local Government of Katsina State.

Sokesman of the Katsina State Police Command,  Isah Gambo, who confirmed this to newsmen in Katsina yesterday, said the two suspects have confessed to the heinous crimes.

The kidnap suspect, Ibrahim Kasim, allegedly bought satanic idea sold to him by his girlfriend, Murja, and conspired with other members of his syndicate to commit the offence on 16th April, 2019 at about 12 noon in Zamfara State.

Ibrahim reportedly ran out of luck on 28th November, 2019, around 3.30pm when men of the Katsina State Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) nabbed him at Sokoto Road, Makera, Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, in an interview disclosed that his father, a pharmacist, paid only N200, 000 out of the ransom and he got N2000 as his share of the amount through one of his friends.

“He further stated that he was the one that organised the kidnapping including giving out the phone number of his father to his cohorts where the sum of N10m was demanded by the syndicate,” he claimed.

The Command’s spokesman however assured efforts to apprehend other members of the gang are on-going.

Meanwhile, investigations revealed that Aisha Abubakar, 48, killed her step-daughter kept in her care, by feeding her with poisonous food on 28th November, at Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“The victim was rushed to the hospital and later confirmed dead.

In the course of investigation, the “suspect confessed to the crime. Her motive been a long standing hatred she has for the mother of the victim,” Gambo disclosed.
