Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure her husband receives fair treatment and enjoys his constitutional rights amid his ongoing legal proceedings.
Speaking to journalists at her residence in Abuja on Tuesday, Asiya recalled the support she and her husband gave to Tinubu during the 2023 presidential campaign, saying they actively worked for his electoral victory across Kaduna State.

She stressed that the family was not asking the President to interfere with the judicial process or halt the prosecution but to ensure that El-Rufai is accorded the rights guaranteed under the Constitution, including access to medical care, family members, legal representation, and bail on reasonable terms.
Addressing the President, she said, “Mr. President, I campaigned for you and visited every part of Kaduna State in support of your election. My husband also stood firmly by your side. We are only asking that he be treated fairly and allowed the basic human rights guaranteed by the Constitution you swore to uphold.”
